Our newest haul
Today is the day. The second day of Comiket 75 and a much-anticipated day for us Touhou fans because this is when some of our biggest releases come out! Just a few of the things waiting in the wings for us today are the new IOSYS Touhou arrange album, Touhou Bubbling Underground, the newest in the Touhou M-1 Grand Prix series by Yellow Zebra and last, but definitely not least, the eagerly anticipated doujin anime project by Studio Maikaze. Yep, it’s going to be a grand day today. Since I haven’t been following the anime very closely and I will watch it when it comes out, this entry will concentrate mainly on the other two, which I have been looking forward to ever since they came out.
First off, for those who really haven’t seen the trailer by now…
and so, it looks like our four semi-finalists this time are Wind Girl (Momizi and Aya), TewiKourin (Tewi and Rinnosuke) and returning fan-favorites Witch Doll (Marisa and Alice) and Yuyuko & Youmu (Who else?). It looks like everyone has got new voice actors behind them now, with the possible exception of Tewi who sounds the same. I preferred Youmu’s old actress but I guess we can’t have everything in life. Marisa and Alice’s voices are definitely an improvement and I can’t wait to see the results of Kisume x Alice. I really do think it could be a successful pairing! But she looks so lonely at the end… Anyway, will look forward to it as always , and I’m rooting for Yuyuko & Youmu again hoping that at least one of the new contestants makes it to the finals for a bonus manzai skit. Good luck to our new teams and welcome to the Touhou M-1 Grand Prix!
Next up is the new Touhou Arrange Album by IOSYS! Hate them or love them, I’d say there’s a lot in here by comparison to their previous releases so hopefully you should find at least one or two songs you like. They’re certainly not putting out a threadbare album this time, weighing in at 15 tracks of styles ranging from standard electronica up to a bit of hard rock and metal, which has been sorely missed on IOSYS albums. I’m really excited about this one because apart from having arranges in a lot of the styles I like listening to, they’re arranging a lot of my favorite songs off Subterranean Animism, Mountain of Faith, and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. As always there’s a bit of that zany touch we’ve come to expect of IOSYS with a series of household lessons from our friends at the Moriya Shrine and an arrange of Orin’s theme that reminds me of Thriller. Dancing zombie fairies, yay! Doesn’t seem to be a PV flash this time, which makes me a little sad as I’ve come to enjoy watching them and look forward to them whenever I hear that they’ve released a new album. Oh well… At the very least they’re jumping on all the memes judging from the track titles so it should be an interesting one.
More when I have the stuff in hand.
